West Texas Bluegrass/Traditional Music Association

                              Participation Agreement

In accordance with the West Texas Bluegrass Traditional Music Association (WTBTMA) goal to provide a FAMILY-ORIENTED environment, NO SMOKING is allowed except in seperate, designated areas.  NO ALCOHOL OR ILLICIT DRUGS are permitted at our jams or meetings.  Anyone not maintaining family-appropriate behavior will be dismissed from WTBTMA-sponsored activities. These values will be strictly enforced!

ALL AGES AND LEVELS OF MUSICAL ABILITY are welcome to participate. We are traditional music of all kinds, not just bluegrass.  We welcome other traditional styles including Celtic, Folk, Americana, and Gospel.  We are strictly ACOUSTIC, which means NO AMPS, MICHROPHONES, OR ELECTRIC INSTRUMENTS OF ANY KIND.  NO DRUMS are permitted excet for Celtic and other hand-played drums.  Our intent is to have a naturally balanced blend of instruments and voices.

We want to spend our time playing and enjoying music, not conducting business meetings.  Our business meetings are conducted by committee and minutes are published on the WTBTMA website.  Jams will be reserved primarily for playing music.

NO DUES are charged at this time.  Financing for the association will largely rely on CONTRIBUTIONS at the door from guests and members.  However, the Steering Committee reserves the right to re-assess this policy as future needs may dictate.  WTBTMA expenses currently include monthly website fees, room rental, and incidental supplies.  Steering Committee approval will be required for use of association money for anything other than the above items.

Membership and participation in WTBTMA activities requires this signed agreement.  By signing, you achnowledge that you are aware of and agree to abide by all the above rules.  By providing the further requested information you allow WTBTMA to contact you about future activities only.  Your information is NOT SHARED outside the WTBTMA Steering Committee.  Participants are responsible for their own personal property.  Participants hereby release WTBTMA and Hillcrest Country Club from any liability for accidents resulting in personal injury, damage or loss of property.

I have read and agree to all above conditions & statements to effective (date)_________until revoked in writing by participant or revised by WTBTMA

MESSAGE FROM FOUNDER TOMMY REECE:

Soon after my wife Myra and I started plans to organize an association for the purpose of conducting regular monthly music  jams, we determined that leadership of the organization would include a Board of Directors. Joining us in that capacity are four men who are experienced musicians and their wives. I am pleased to introduce the WTB/TMA Board of Directors:

First, I would like to introduce Gene Swift and his wife Virginia who have been around bluegrass music for a number of years.  Gene is an avid guitar player and singer.  He is member of the Flatlands band.

Next I would like to introduce Randy Redman and his wife Vanita. Randy is also a member of the Flatlands band.  Randy is a multi-instrumentalist with his primary instrument being the banjo.

I am also pleased to have Barry Tilley as a Board Member. Both Barry and his wife Renee are accomplished vocalists.  Barry is an avid guitar player as well.  Barry has a lot of experience in areas that will be quite helpful to our association.

Finally I would like to introduce Ron Seacrist and his wife Debra.   Ron is a multi-instrumentalist, prolific composer, and singer.  He has many years experience playing and singing with a gospel group.

I am pleased that these individuals have agreed to give of their time and expertise to assist this association.

At our first committee meeting, Feb. 6, 2007, The Board agreed that this association will not use membership dues as a method of finance. For the forseeable future we will depend upon donations at the door to provide for our financial needs.  If we fall short on collections, then we may in the future consider some sort of membership dues.  A monthly report on our financial status is posted on the website.

We also discussed membership in the context of one how one becomes a member of our association.  We discussed several possible venues for membership and settled on a "Participation Agreement".  This agreement outlines the goals and principles of our association.  Copies of this agreement are posted on the website for review.  By signing the Participation Agreement, you consent to abide by WTB/TMA rules regulating the jams. Also, the form provides us your contact information to receive regular announcements about the jams and WTB/TMA news.

In subsequent meetings, the Board affirmed the resolution to maintain the jams for accoustic instruments only with no amplification or microphones. This is to allow for a natural balance and blending of voices and instruments.

In the interest of creating a "Family-Friendly" environment for our jams, WTB/TMA Board members also concur on strict "No Alcohol" and "Smoking in Designated Areas Only" policies. We ask that all attendees abide by the association rules and violation may result in immediate dismissal from WTB/TMA jams.

We appreciate the high level of cooperation and show of support for WTB/TMA goals and rules among attendees. The wide interest and attendance that WTB/TMA jams have attracted shows support for this kind of organization emphasizing "music over meetings". General business matters are handled via this website rather than to take up jam time with business meetings. There is no business meeting, just music, at our monthly jams. Inquiries, comments, suggestions, requests and news are welcomed at the WTB/TMA E-mail: music_jam_wtbtma@yahoo.com

Thank you for your interest in WTB/TMA. If you haven't already attended one of our monthly jams, we hope to see you there soon.

Respectfully

Tommy Reece, Founder WTB/TMA

Treasury Report

TREASURY UPDATE: Please remember that without any form of membership dues, your donations at the door are WTB/TMA's only means of support.  Thanks to your generosity, we still do not plan to charge any membership fees. We do not have plans at present for any other means of fund-raising. We want to make enjoying and sharing the love of music with others as affordable for everyone as possible. Thanks again for your wonderful level of continuing financial support of WTB/TMA jams.

In this area, we might mention the date of the next meeting.
